Anchorage may be getting a lot of snow this winter, but it's not the only place. Willow, Alaska is near the site of the official start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race on Sunday; they've received over three feet of snow in the last 72 hours.
There's a brief interview with DeeDee Jonrowe, a musher with 30 Iditarod races under her belt, at www.ktuu.com (Anchorage's NBC affiliate). In it, she said "water overflow on some creeks and lakes can injure the dogs if the snow is higher than their shoulders."
