We're getting close. This year's snowfall (114.8" so far) is less than an inch from the 2003-2004 total, which was the 4th snowiest on record, so we're already in the top 5. With another 18-point-something, we'd set a new all-time record.
The local NBC affiliate weatherman says we could easily get a foot or more, this week. Looks like the heavy stuff will get here Thursday going into Friday, and that's good news for the Iditarod teams; the ceremonial start is Saturday, with the official re-start on Sunday.
There are worse things than watching dog sled racers taking off during a snowstorm.
