Firearms are tools. I don't often write about my hammer, screwdrivers or socket wrench, either.
But ... just to be clear ... the .38 +P in my pocket is so I can get to the 1911 in my briefcase so I can get to the rifle in my truck. Any questions?
p.s. Most days the 1911 is my carry piece. The 442 just works better with I'm wearing today.

It's a scoped hunting rifle, Al. .22s are just for plinking; our game's a bit too large for that.
I keep both in my truck, with ammo.

Good advice..I have always said your handgun fights you to your battle rifle.
