One of our local 'talking heads' said something this morning about "remembering the fallen and those who have served".
No.
Memorial Day (formerly known as Remembrance Day) is about those who died. "Those who have served" are remembered on Veterans' Day.
Yes, they're all worthy of veneration. But - for example - me living with a minor but permanent disability does not compare to giving one's life.
All I ask is that we live our lives in a manner worthy of those who gave their all, and not let their sacrifice have been in vain.

This will be the first weekend this month in which we haven't been either traveling or running like crazy to get everything done. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to some downtime.
Y'all be careful & stay safe.

You, as well, my friend!

Me too. I shall crash after a steak dinner tomorrow night. Have a peaceful weekend.
GFA, thank you.
Stephen - you, too. Hug that beautiful granddaughter for all of us.
The 2 different days are both misinterpreted. On Veteran's Day we get just as many people telling us it is in honor of those who have died in service to the country (which technically it's not although they would all be Veterans too).
I figure as long as it's not done with malice, people are trying to be nice. For that I give them credit. :-)
Have a lovely weekend!
