The Sportsmen's Act of 2012

If enacted, S. 3525 would combine various other bills as a legislative package supporting hunting, fishing and recreational activities and habitat conservation programs.

I contacted Alaska's Senators and urged them to support the bill.

I got an interesting response from Senator Lisa Murkowski, which states in part, "I was, however, disappointed by the decision to leave out bipartisan measures that I believe are important to protect public access.  Therefore, I have introduced an amendment (S. Amdt. 2850) designed to preserve the right to hunt and fish on public lands.  The amendment would prevent attempts to limit access on federal lands and ensure that federal agencies cooperate with state fish and wildlife agencies when planning land use."

I ask you good folks to get on the horn to your Senators in support of both measures. Update: now that I've seen what GOA has to say about it, I've changed my mind. It's another land grab masquerading as them doing us a favor.
