GOA: Senate Democrats Bullying Your Senators into Flip-flopping on gun control

This particular letter is aimed at Alaskans, but if you have a Democratic Senator who voted against the Toomey-Schumer-Manchin amendment(s), it applies to you too.

Senate Democrats Bullying Your Senators
into Flip-flopping on gun control

Contact their offices (again) and urge them not to cave!

We know that you've already contacted Senators Lisa Murkowski and Mark Begich.  If not once, you've probably done it many times.

But the Left is really clamping down on them - and they need to know that Alaska gun owners want them to stand for the Second Amendment and not buckle under pressure from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Last month, Senators Begich and Murkowski cast votes for the Second Amendment - and voted against the Toomey-Schumer-Manchin national gun registry amendment.

Make no mistake about it:  The Toomey-Schumer-Manchin provision is a national gun registry.

It is a national gun registry because the Obama administration is copying the names of gun purchasers from 4473's when it conducts its annual inspections of gun shops.  If everyone has to have a 4473, everyone will be in the Obama administration's database.

Few things are more hypocritical than the spectacle of gun-grabbers whining that they don't support national gun registries - just as they get off Air Force One on a trip from Hartford, Connecticut where they cheered the recent enactment of a state gun registry.

Now, Senate Democrats are going around telling reporters that, as a result of the pressure Bloomberg and others have put on Senators Begich and Murkowski, they might change their votes based on only "superficial" changes.

The Senate originally voted to "discuss" gun control because Obama argued that gun control advocates "deserved a vote."  And they got a vote.

It now appears, however, that, as with ObamaCare, Harry Reid intends to keep the issue on the table until he can bribe, intimidate, or threaten a sufficient number of senators to win.  Once Reid wins, the "discussion" will be over.

ACTION:  Call Lisa Murkowski (202-224-6665) and Mark Begich (202-224-3004), if possible.  Jam their phone lines.

If it is not possible for you to call, then e-mail them by using their webforms at:

Tell them you expect them to show the courage not to be bribed, intimidated, or threatened into flip-flopping, based on what Senate Democrats are correctly describing as "superficial" changes to a bad bill.

----- Pre-written letter -----

Dear Senator:

Last month, you cast a vote for the Second Amendment and voted against the Toomey-Schumer-Manchin national gun registry amendment.

Few things are more hypocritical than the spectacle of gun-grabbers whining that they don't support national gun registries just as they get off Air Force One on a trip from Hartford, Connecticut where they cheered enactment of a state gun registry.

Now, Senate Democrats are going around telling reporters that, as a result of the pressure Michael Bloomberg and others have put on you, you might change your vote based on only "superficial" changes.

We didn't elect you because we thought you were a shivering coward.  And we expect you to show the courage not to be bribed, intimidated, or threatened into flip-flopping based on what Manchin correctly describes as a "superficial" change.

Please let me know what you intend to do.

Sincerely,
