- All guns are always loaded!
- Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
- Always be sure of your target, and what's beyond it.
A 23-year-old Soldotna man accidentally discharged a handgun Saturday, injuring himself and a 22-year-old man, Alaska State Troopers reported. Both men were transported to different hospitals for treatment.
Troopers responded to an accidental shooting call about 3:15 p.m. on King Salmon Avenue. Investigation revealed that Zackary Moore, 23, “was attempting to disassemble his .45 caliber Springfield Armory semi-auto handgun in the front passenger seat of a Jeep Grand Cherokee when he fired one shot striking himself and his friend, Arnold Sipes, 22, who was seated in the driver’s seat,” troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said in an email.
Yep, he managed to break all four rules in one swell foop.

They were transported to different hospitals 'cause his bud was screaming "You shot me you $#!#! I'll kill you!"?
Sometimes you wonder how they lived long enough to become adults.
ProudHillbilly wins the internets! :)
Don't believe you need to pull the trigger on a 1911 pattern to disassemble it.
Never needed it before, WSF, nor to see if one is loaded. However, I've found that stupidity often provides its own reward.
Rev. Paul,
Excuse my language, what a dumb a$$
obviously another one that really didn't need to have a gun in his hands.
Sandy, I have to agree.
Too bad Darwin didn't ensure that he couldn't reproduce. OTOH maybe he learned something... or not. heh.
What fool disassembles a 1911 inside a car, anyway? What's the point?
Did he learn anything? I certainly hope so!
But there's a reason, Bob: it was raining. (snicker)
