Sloppy Saturday

It rained all night. This morning that changed into a rain/snow mix around 0700. The ground is white with the slushy brew, as are cars & rooftops. The streets are merely wet, which is okay with us. Most everyone has their snow tires off now, so now we play a waiting game and hope for the best.

Older daughter (one of those in an orange cap, in the previous post) wanted to try augmenting her pistol ammo supply. Sportsman's Warehouse receives their shipments on Friday night, and has it for sale on Saturday morning. The line was three times the length of what you can see here.

When the doors opened at 0900, there were over 300 people waiting to get in. We were about in the middle of that line. The line snaked through the store, went all the way to the back, and doubled back to the customer service desk were all that was available waiting on pallets.

When there were still 100 folks in front of us, the store announced that all the .22LR was gone. A few folks got out of line at that, but not many. When there were 50 between us and the counter, they ran out of 9mm. We left.

I did manage to score their last 8rd .45ACP mag, though, so it wasn't a total loss. Next week, Daughter's going to be there at 0730 and wait it out.

I've said it before, and will repeat: I'm so glad I stocked up last summer before the shortages began.

Tonight, the girls are taking me for dinner and a movie (Iron Man 3) as a birthday present. Tomorrow we're heading off to Chugiak for a range trip. I haven't fired my rifle since last October, so it's time.

Movie...I haven't attended a movie in at least two years. Came close to a fistfight with a gaggle of democrats and swore I'd never attend another...but, why not. Have fun.

Thanks, NFO. Can do.

Stephen, the only conversation I overheard while in-line for the flick was a couple of nerds discussing this movie and that. Heh.
