Flag Day

On this Flag Day, we must restore Old Glory to her rightful place, flying over a free people, empowered and emboldened.

The red, white, and blue cannot become synonymous with federal policies that invade our privacy and unreasonably search us through unbridled data collection. America’s flag should not be left to hang limply over an IRS that would target us for our political viewpoints; a Department of Justice that would criminalize journalism; nor can it be raised proudly above a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that mandates health coverage over tenets of one’s religious faith.

No, indeed, America’s flag flies freely in this republic only for life and liberty. It stands a proud watch above the graves of our military service members and their families who sacrificed much. And, the flag carries a promise of hope, opportunity and liberty beyond us — for our children and their children for generations to come.

On this Flag Day, we give thanks for our nation’s symbol of freedom and for all who have sacrificed that we might live. And, we take a moment to renew our promise to each other that they will not have died or been wounded in vain.

We the people promise to stand up, speak up, and fight for those constitutional principles that allow our flag to fly boldly and proudly over that “city on a hill.”

Well, that's powerful enough to sway a US citizen to head to Alaska. Wow.

Cathy, it remains to be seen how far Alaska will go in protection of liberty, but the Governor certainly says & does all the right things.
