Senate Race 2014

The field of candidates who'll try to unseat Mark Begich (D) as Alaska's junior senator is growing.

In no particular order, there's:
  • Dan Sullivan (R), 20-yr Marine office (retired), former Ass't Secretary of State under G.W. Bush, and recently stepped down from his post as head of Alaska's Natural Resources commissioner.
  • Joe Miller (R), who defeated Lisa Murkowski (R) in her last primary, but shot himself in the foot (too libertarian for many, and immediately crucified in the local press as a wacko) and she was reelected as a write-in candidate.
  • Mead Treadwell (R), current Lt. Governor.
  • Kathleen Tonn (R), outspoken Christian and pro-life activist.
  • John Jaramillo (R), Air Force veteran.

I think I missed one or two; my apologies if I left your favorite off the list.

I want Sarah Palin to run. Give her a term as a Senator, to season her to handling the Washington crowd, and she'll become a viable candidate for higher office.

Peter, that's a conversation many of us have had. It's an open question whether all the bashing she's received since 2008 has damaged her ability to be a viable candidate here.

Rev. Paul,

I would love to see Sarah Palin in the position however, I can only hope Alaska picks a viable candidate. One who will stand for the people!!!

From your mouth to God's ears, Sandy. It would be a nice change of pace, though.
