Abraham Lincoln On the Declaration of Independence

The truths of the Declaration are eternally relevant, a perpetual call to honor liberty and the dignity of the individual ... Our republican robe is soiled, and trailed in the dust. Let us re-purify it. Let us turn and wash it white, in the spirit, if not the blood, of the Revolution.

I don't agree with many of the actions taken by President Lincoln while in office, but he was certainly on track, here.

Amen! But now, since the National Guard is training to see "Constitutionalists" as terrorists, that provides a great deal of insight into what they think about it.
