The Division went on to say it's due to new cruise ships coming here, along with new air routes, and a program designed to lure winter-time visitors.
That's a new record, in this state of roughly 800,000 residents.
That reminds me of the old bumper stickers we used to see here:
Heh.
To soften the blow, here are a few others:
Only in the winter. I promise. :) |

Yeah, we've a similar problem here.
Eight or so months out of the year, the weather is temperate (unlike yesterday, which was 111*!)
So we get many part-time Winter residents (from places like AK) called Snowbirds.
They are usually retired, and cannot drive for s***.
"Take your tiny wings and fly away..."

The Dutch Harbor one made me nearly snort my coffee.
Guffaw, you & I are of that "certain age" where driving skills may begin to erode, too. Let's be kind, as there, but for the grace of God, go we. Or not. :)
WSF, there are a few others which are not so socially acceptable ... I published only the clean ones. Heh.
We get a lot of visitors but we also get a ton of locals in the canyon where we live. I never realized just how loud it all is, and how much hustle is associated with it until we got the cabin.
It's a blessing and a curse I suppose. People equal revenue (usually) but they also equal people.
I hear ya, Max. It's a necessary evil. :)
They probably all come from NY, which is emptying out fast.
threecollie, they come from all over. We can tell the ones from Arizona because they show up in July, wearing parkas. Our 65-degree summer days feel cold to folks used to 114 in the shade. :)
Guffaw - I suspect the retired part is why Phoenix has such wonderfully huge and readable street signs. I did appreciate that the last time I was out there.
What, no ads for Adak??? :-)
NFO - how 'bout:
"Adak, Alaska - If you have to ask, you can't afford it."
Those are great!
And honestly . . . it seems everyone I know has recently traveled to Alaska or are currently planning a trip to Alaska.
Cathy, it's a wonderful, scenic, beautiful land full of delights. Mountains, hundreds of glaciers, wildlife, rivers, millions of lakes ... it's such an awesome creation by God's hands.
Everyone should see it, at least once. :)
@Rev. Paul. - Thanks, but I suppose you are right.
@ProudHillbilly - We were told it was federally mandated!
Coming soon to a town near you - with your tax dollars, of course!

We really loved our trip via RV. Got to see places the cruise ships don't have access to. Of course they get to Stika which we didn't do. Maybe next time.
I notice your bumper stickers did not include any about mosquitoes or surviving the Alcan Highway. :-)
joated, I decided to skip those ... this time. :)
