The base commander of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) in Anchorage said that he and all his airmen and soldiers are saddened by the murders of Marines in Tennessee.
And said he doesn't plan any changes in base security.
Sigh ...
There is a We the People petition now online HERE to get rid of the stupid directive put in place by Bill Clinton in 1992 that prevents the military from protecting themselves. (Thank you, Old NFO, for posting that link!)
I can't believe I even have to say these words ... in what strange parallel universe is the military disarmed??

Just did, Rev. Paul - thanks for the link!!! Over 98,000 already!!
Whoops - My bad - read that wrong - Need 98,000 to go. Sorry, I blame that on my enthusiasm.... Please delete my comment if you so desire...
Website appears to be hung at this moment, hopefully from being overwhelmed by people wanting to sign this petition.
Padre, My favorite saying from someone wiser year ago..."Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up" Not changing is not good. We already know that if the base my CAP Squadron goes up one threat level, our access with me "Monday Night Only" I believe if it goes up two we are locked out. Its at Bravo now.
Just now got my confirmation email. It is slowly working. Probably too many people all at once.... which is a good thing.
thanks for the link, R.P.
Matt, you're welcome. And thank you for the updates on the link site.
Rob, I've come to believe that liberalism may well be a mental illness. They look at what is, and see something entirely different ... and then denigrate anyone who disagrees.
Rev. Paul: "... I've come to believe that liberalism may well be a mental illness."
That or a demonic possession... I would say that I said that in jest, but these days who can really say one way or the other about that bunch.... just look at what came out about planned parenthood....
Matt, I won't argue about that point. It's well taken.
My husband and I were traveling across the country today and arguing about what idiot came up with that directive. Thanks for settling it. Is it a sin to loathe these people?
Cathy - Jesus commands us to love everyone, and pray for our enemies, especially those who despitefully use us.
I note, however, that He didn't say we had to like them. :)
Hmmmm . . . . Love but not like. Hmmmm . . .
I think I'm going to be doing extra time in purgatory.
Cathy, there's one more thing (isn't there always?): love isn't an emotion. It's something you do. Remember that Jesus said, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
Sounds like the CO is toeing the administration's corporate line...
It's pretty clear that he's sticking to the official DoD policy, despite the insanity of it all. Do you know he even ordered those living off-base to bring all their personal firearms to the base armory? I was just aghast at that news.
spot on...worse than Orwell can ever have imagined!!
It's crazy; can't think of another word that describes it better.
Thanks for the link.
I must have missed it over at Old NFO's place.
I'm happy to help, Jim.
I missed it at NFOs, til I saw comments on it.
Ed & Jim, I think the template he's using just doesn't provide as much contrast between regular text and embedded links.
It is official. The rabbit hole exists and we are nearing the bottom of it. I had not heard about the order to turn in personal firearms. If ever there were a place to draw the line, that would be it. To be ordered to remove the personal protection of their families is way beyond insane.
Done!
As to your comment - WE'VE learned, they haven't (or refuse to)!
gfa
Vicki, that line was passed nearly 25 years ago, but the public in general didn't notice until the Ft. Hood shooting happened.
Guffaw, I only pray it's enough.
