Cook Inlet & Kachemak Bay

The bay on which Homer sits upon the shore, and into which the Homer Spit juts several miles out, is Cook Inlet on the west side of the Spit, and Kachemak bay on the east side.

If you find Homer at the southern terminus of the Alaska Highway, you'll see the body of water in question. It helps if you click on the map to enlarge it some.

Here, from the shore west of the Spit - which is visible on the left edge of the photo, is the Cook Inlet side. Please note: it's a large photo.

Because it was windy, the breakers roared and crashed against the seawall for several hours as the tide came in, and continuing as it went out. It woke me up every night, but made it easy to go back to sleep.
