Police Blotter: Turkey Day Edition

Let's check in with our friends in Dutch Harbor and see what's going on, on Unalaska Island:

Assist Other Agency
An officer conducting a traffic stop on an erratic driver later learned the driver was wanted on Federal charges relating to passport fraud in New York. Luis Enrique Rodriguez, 46 yoa, was subsequently arrested on the federal warrant.
If you're trying to hide from the law, swerving all over the road isn't the way to do it.
Welfare Check
Mother asked for assistance contacting her son, from whom she had not heard for several months. An officer contacted the man and told him to call his mother.
Call your mom, you ingrate!

Welfare Check
Intoxicated caller phoned 911 to report that his friend was inebriated and nauseous. An officer responded to the caller's location and found two drunken men, neither of whom wanted or needed any assistance.

Drunk Disturbance
Officers responded to the Airport Bar regarding an altercation involving multiple people, and found that two men had been wrestling - an activity in which they regularly participate - and had no intention of hurting one another. The participants and their audience left the area without incident.

Drunk Disturbance
Officers responded to the Harbor View Bar regarding an altercation involving multiple people, and arrived in time to see a large number of people fleeing the area. Two subjects who were detained claimed that no fight had taken place and that one man had cut his head on a car door.

Suspicious Person/Activity
Caller reported having received a phone call from an obviously fraudulent service, advising her she had won a substantial amount of money. Caller was primarily concerned that the charlatan knew her age and had asked about her living arrangements.

Suspicious Person/Activity
Vehicle owner said four men were in the parking lot at Safeway, trying to lift up his van. Officers determined several men from a USCG cutter had dared another man to lift the vehicle off the ground.
Everybody sing:  "What will you do with a drunken sailor, what will you do with a drunken sailor...?"
Assistance Rendered
An absent-minded driver took a wrong turn at the landfill at drove partway off a loading dock before coming to a stop. Landfill personnel were able to remove the vehicle from its precarious position.

Liquor Law Violation
Officer contacted a drunk who had chosen a sidewalk as his bed of choice for the night, and advised him he was too intoxicated to return to any bars or liquor stores this night.

Always entertaining, but the fraudulant call one is serious, particularly when involving older people. I have trouble believing how many are scammed, maybe because I'm a cynic, but apparently it's a lot.

I know, PH. There have been a number of 'phone scams here, too. The last time 'round, they called my cell phone; thank goodness for caller ID. I don't know anyone in the Bahamas, so I blocked the number. :)
