Just One Snowstorm

Really, that's all we're asking for.

In an average winter, we're told, Anchorage receives about six feet of snow. Four years ago, we got 12 1/2 feet (officially). The unofficial total at my house, which I measured as carefully as I could, was 13' 9".

Since then, we had an average amount, then only about two feet last year, and this year's shaping up about the same.

We'd love to have a couple of those storms that snow so heavily you can watch the snow depth increasing. The ones where the snow gets so deep, so quickly, that you can't figure out where the road is, and the usual landmarks are completely obscured.

Those are fun. :)

This is so interesting. When one thinks of Alaska you think of feet and feet of snow. Is it as mild temperature wise as it is snowless? (relatively speaking:)

Cathy, the temps have been warmer than usual: in the 20s and 30s, rather than single digits & teens. We've had more rain & freezing rain than snow, which annoys us a great deal. Heh.

Yep, you're crazy...LOL You have all the snow you want! :-) 'I', on the other hand, am perfectly happy without it!

NFO, I never expected you to like the snow, so it's okay. :)

It's been warm here too in Joisey- This is the first Winter since we have moved here that there has not been lot of snow. It is a nice change for these old bones, but I do miss it. Maybe next year....

Rev. Paul,

My favorite amount of snow at my age right now is 1 inch or less, LOL.....

I'd say you could have some of ours but it's all melting.

Sandy, I understand. Thanks!

PH, it's okay. Anything we get this weekend is supposed to melt on Monday, too.
