Police Blotter: False Alarms & Mysterious Persons

Traffic Crime
Caller reported the driver of a white Unisea van had pulled out in front of him, nearly causing an accident. There were no other descriptors and officers were unable to ascertain which of the many white Unisea vans might be the suspect vehicle.

Suspicious Person/Activity
Caller reported a motorist driving oddly on Ski Bowl. An officer contacted the suspect driver, who stated he was simply testing the 4WD on his vehicle. There was no indication of drug or alcohol impairment.

Suicide
Drunken caller reported a neighbor was looking for a knife with which to commit suicide. Officers responded and found that the woman was simply looking for a knife with which to cut a roast.

Harassment
Drunken caller reported receiving harassing phone calls from another person; the other person at the same time reported receiving harassing phone calls from the drunken caller. Officers asked both parties if they could just quit calling one another.

Welfare Check
UDPS received a number of automated calls from a local business. An officer checked the building and found there was no emergency and that a temporary phone outage had caused the automated alarms.

Suspicious Person/Activity
Drunk reported that somebody was in his house. Officers responded and found the drunk and his brother, both of whom live at that location, in the house. The drunk identified his deceased father as one of the people in his home, but officers were unable to locate him.

Suspicious Person/Activity
Caller reported seeing flashing amber lights at the end of the road to Ski Bowl. An officer trudged through deep drifts of snow only to find that the amber lights were the hazard flashers for a vehicle that was stuck in deep snow.

Welfare Check
Officers checked on two drunks who were found on the seats outside the airport terminal. One of the drunks, who could speak only in two-word vulgarities and fell off his seat while doing so, was eventually taken to the clinic for definitive care.
