TBT: Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center

From 2012:

My friend Sandi S. takes frequent trips to out-of-the-way places here in Alaska, where that's really saying something, and comes back with awesome photographs.

However, this time she went somewhere close by - the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, only 40 miles from Anchorage, and got some great shots. Here are a few she passed along this morning:

Grizzly cub

Moosey!

Hey - who YOU looking at?

I wonder what's up here?
Is that lunch I smell?

The Center is a fenced-in road which meanders through the wide-open places in which the animals go about living. Only the spectators are behind wires. :)

But that allows them to get within a few yards of the critters, and allows for some spectacular chances at good photos.

ahh Bears.....people who have never seen a Grizzly in the wild and from a secure distance are not blessed!

Agreed! Bears are incredible, intelligent animals ... which will eat you for lunch if you break the rules of nature.

Beautiful photograph! Don't think I'd like to get that close to a grizzly though. The black bears are bad enough!

Chickenmom, the grizzlies at the Center mostly ignore the tourists. Mostly.

threecollie, thanks (on Sandi's behalf). :)
