Bear Patrol

For those of you who hadn't read it or seen it, there was a black bear (in the 200 to 230 lb range) wandering around downtown Anchorage a few days ago.

APD has release dash-cam video. So here, for your viewing pleasure (and a hat-tip to Griz Alaska for bringing it to my attention):

Did you happen to notice the sign on the top of the building to the right of the bear when he is first seen, at the beginning of the video. Kind of weirdly appropriate wouldn't you say?

Yep - 4th Avenue Furs. :) They've been there since before statehood (1959), but then a lot of businesses 'round here have.

NICE!
Watched the season premiere of Last Man Standing (the Tim Allen show)
last night.
His Bass Pro-like store was invaded by a mama bear and her cub.
No one was killed or maimed, and the bear was relocated safely out of town (Denver).
Of course, this IS TV...

Bears are known to invade a lot of businesses in places like Juneau, and they usually do little or no damage as long as there's an easy way out.

He was just looking for an open dumpster! One was killed by a truck about 2 miles from here.

You could well be right, ma'am. The blackies around here spend a lot of time dumpster- and trash can-diving.
