Or have something say but have no interest in communicating.
I blame "the me generation" for all the I, I, I, me, me, me, noise out there. And their kids, the helicopter generation, for not encouraging co-operation and teamwork, instead of pushing each special young one as being super-special. Very few know how to cope with tough times, or how to work hard together to achieve a goal.Teamwork mandates good communications skills, and sometimes, just putting yourself last instead of first. Those are skills that could be used at the job site, in marriages, in education, in learning manners, all across society.Yelling is usually not a good communication technique in my experience.
Probably true, TB, but I've not heard anything from the rioters that makes me believe I want to hear them.Suz, that's a big part of it. When you've gotten awards for showing up, all your life, you've never learned about competition or losing. And it does appear that it makes them furious when anyone else is speaking.Thank you, WSF.
It would help if they weren't so fiercely demonstrating STUPID. Gawd these lying bunch of brainless wingnuts are a disgrace.
Fair enough Reverend. From the little I have paid attention, not much there for me either.
What you said in your post? Ain't that the truth! I can't believe how socialist and sissyfied we have become. That's why I love Alaska and Alaskan shows. I am reminded there is hope out there yet. That, and all the people who elected Trump and Praised the Lord while doing so!Here's hoping for a blessed week for all of us.
Linda, I appreciate what you say. Alaska is ... an interesting place, although the reality shows are mostly scripted. But the attitudes they project are based, more or less, on attitudes here. :)
PH, I really can't find fault with what you said. "Stupid" seems to be their default mode.
If you really look at what's going on here, you're not seeing signs of protest; you're seeing signs of GRIEF! Y'know; that "wailing and gnashing of teeth thing...If it weren't happening here, it would be humorous. The typical riot...er... PROTEST shows signs calling for everything from black lives matter to LGBT...XYZ "rights." Just what are these people after; perhaps a participation trophy?...
I know, Pete; was speaking euphemistically. Destruction of property, assaults and mayhem aren't a protest. Their incandescent rage at opposing viewpoints is telling. And you're right: I believe we're well into the birth pangs of the end times.
I know they are scripted; but I also know from our short time there that you can't be a wimp like the ones in the lower 48, and succeed in Alaska. The old timers won't stand for it.At least they didn't when we were there.I know I am not supposed to envy, but I do, just a little bit (may the Lord forgive me); the people who live in Alaska. And especially the subsistence people. And I definitely agree, if I didn't before most liberal snowflake protestors are not protesting. With all the destruction and bodily harm, they are rioters and terrorists plain and simple and should be dealt with as such.
Linda, the sheer numbers of Outsiders in Anchorage means that people in that city get by with idiotic behavior which would result in injury or death in the Bush. Fortunately, sanity still rules throughout the rest of the State. Well, mostly. Like my friend says, "Alaska can turn 'stupid' into 'dead' faster than anywhere else."It's a wonderful place to live, if harsh, but proper preparation & a bit of common sense go a long way toward ensuring one's survival. Sounds like y'all need to move back. :)I agree wholeheartedly with your comments on the rioters.
We have talked about the possibility. But when the winters get really cold here, we are pretty certain we would not like the winters there. Even with parkas, bunny boots, Chinese underwear and gauntlets! Haha!
Linda, only you two know whether you could take the winters here. And I certainly understand: 'tis often said that Alaska is a tough place to grow old in. But we're here, and we just bought a house, so we're going to tough it out as long as we can. :)
I think as long as the economy holds, you should be fine no matter your age. The subsistence life is where someone might falter as they get older, maybe. I don't remember what show I was watching several years back; but the older Eskimos who had no teeth, the younger ones in the family chewed their food for them. They thought nothing of it.A good reason to have a large family!
