Happy Independence Day!
This ensign flew above the destroyer on which I served, and above all U.S. Navy warships.
There's a reason for that, and I never see it without getting a little choked up. We forget its significance only at our very great peril.
I was telling one of my much younger coworkers that when I was born the flag didn't have 50 stars. Without an instants hesitation he looked at me and said, "Did it have thirteen?" Good one.

Yep, I have one here that flew on my last submarine.
I've got one that was flown on the Iowa.

God bless you all.
