I quit watching games three years ago. Occasionally will look at highlights on YouTube. The artificial sound is pathetic.
Living in Seattle at the time the Seahawks started, had season tickets for ten years until I moved. The noise level in the Kingdome was incredible.
The player disrespect starting with Kapernick is the reason I no longer watch.
My story is much like yours, WSF, except for the Seattle bit. We stopped watching after one of the many player strikes, some years ago, and haven't been back. We haven't missed it, either.
