The only half glimmer if light is I read somewhere a year or so ago that they want to leave it at daylight saving time.

Linda, LawDog (blogger on my sidebar) wrote about the federal Time Act of 1966 the other day. Per federal law, states can opt either to observe the "change the time twice per year" or remain with Standard Time year-round. Staying on Daylight "Saving" Time is not an option.
This would enable weasel lawmakers (which describes the vast majority) could pass such a bill, and a governor enact it, all with the sure knowledge that the courts will strike it down as unlawful at the first challenge. Then said weasels can say, "See? We tried!" and forget about the electorate once again.
