The Gingerbread Village - Annual Anchorage Tradition

Joe Hickel*, pastry chef & one of the owners of the Hotel Captain Cook in downtown Anchorage, has been building elaborate gingerbread villages in the hotel lobby for decades.

I'm proud to say that Younger Daughter, who works for Joe, helps with the village. Aside from helping to roll out the huge sheets of gingerbread, she also made all the trees you see in the video.

* The late Walter J. Hickel, former Governor of Alaska, was the patriarch of the family which owns the hotel. Joe is one of five brothers. :)
