University of Alaska Empty Holster Protest

From the Anchorage 2nd Amendment Task Force:

It has been brought to my attention that Students for Concealed Carry (SCC) is promoting an Empty Holster Protest to begin Monday, April 7 and extend thru Friday, April 11. This is a peaceful  means to raise awareness for the violation of self-protection rights on public land across the country. 

Recently one of our own, Hans Rodvik, helped draft SB 176, a bill reinforcing our right to lawfully carry a weapon on public school campuses in Alaska. Be mindful of this ongoing effort to protect your rights, which in turn allow you to help protect yourself.

Please support the effort by participating in this peaceful protest. However, please keep in mind two things:

-Do NOT place anything in the holster. We don't want to send the wrong message, or unnecessarily worry anyone.

-Stay educated on the legal paradox of barring lawful carry on public grounds. This is your 2nd amendment right, not to mention an explicit right in the State constitution.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and please help us get the word out and raise awareness on campus carry rights violations.

I would really appreciate it if you could send it out to your members with a comment about how important this meeting is to help get funding for phase 2 of the range being built this summer. Letters will go to the Senate Finance Committee in support of more funding for Phase 2 which will complete the range to be constructed this summer. Further funding needed is $500,000. Alaska Dept of Fish & Game Kills Wolf Pack; National Park Service Upset.
(AP) "FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Alaska Fish and Game officials killed an Eastern Interior wolf pack last week, and the National Park Service — which had been studying the animals — is none too pleased."

Good News for Humpbacks:
A petition from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game may remove a subgroup of humpback whales from the list of endangered species.

Cool Running:
Some 3,000 participants turned out yesterday for the annual "Running of the Reindeer" on the closing day of the Fur Rondy, in downtown Anchorage.
