Fairbanks Attorney Challenges Murkowski for Senate Seat

From an A.P. story in today's Anchorage Daily News:

Fairbanks attorney Joe Miller said he is running for the U.S. Senate to stop the country from a "headlong plunge into socialism."

Miller will challenge Sen. Lisa Murkowski for the Republican nomination.

Speaking to supporters on the Capitol steps, Miller said the federal debt has reached unsustainable levels and is affecting foreign policy. He also cautioned that too much borrowing and spending will lead to inflation and unemployment.

Miller, who was raised in Kansas, is a graduate of Yale Law School and holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Alaska. He received an officer's commission from West Point and is a veteran of the first Gulf War.

"Unexpected, this is. But not unwelcome."

There you go doing your Yoda immitation again.

But you are right. No candidate should go unchallenged, even within their own party. Challenges are how platforms are built and how the candidates learn (hopefully) what the public (their bossses) want.

Rev. Paul,

Are you planning to give Mr. Miller the Codrea test on gun rights? Hope you have better luck than I have if you do.

If he is a true conservative, this is great news. Murkowski has been pretty disappointing on several issues. Could you imagine? We could actually get rid of McCain too. We may actually end up with a more conservative senate; who ever thought that was possible?
