So we've disassembled the sectional sofa, moved couches, chairs, tables, lamps, and assorted what-not ... shampooed the carpet, hung the new curtain rod & valance, and are now putting the furniture back, slowly, as the carpet dries.
In the midst of all this, I got a call from the optician, who received my multi-focal contacts - and nothing would do but I had to right now, or he wouldn't be able to fit me in until Wednesday. Sigh.
What the heck; I wasn't doing anything, anyway.
So I have new glasses, single-vision long-distance contacts, and now the multi-focal contacts. I'm beginning to wonder if it's all worth it. The last time I had contacts, some 25+ years ago, my vision with them was better than with glasses ... as both eyes were 20/10 with the lenses in.
Of course, that was before bifocals, dang it. This time 'round, it's a bit different. So I have long- and middle-distance in my right lens, and middle- and reading-distance in the left. This will take some getting used to, and although my eyes managed to sort things out fairly quickly, reading was still an issue. Then when I put the glasses back on after three hours, it took nearly 20 minutes for my eyes to begin working together again.
As my double-nickel birthday approaches, I have to ask if it's worth the struggle ... and I'm still correctable to 20/15 vision with the glasses. Maybe I should just leave well enough alone.

I've had bifocal contacts now for about 5 years. I'm up to the top strength on the bifocal part. I LOVE them for working on my computer, but they are really difficult for teeny print in dim light. So when we go out to dinner, I wear my glasses then I can read the menu. LOL.
