The forecast of windy conditions was correct. So far, today:
- Thousands without power through Anchorage, the Valley, and western Alaska
- Roofs blown off
- Heavy snow reported to the west
- Warnings and advisories for much of Alaska
The warning for Anchorage includes this:
Southeast winds with gusts around 90 mph have been
reported along the Upper Hillside and Turnagain Arm. Southeast
winds with gusts of 60 to 77 mph are also present over the lower
hillside in Southeast Anchorage.
They're calling for rain & snow for the next 48 hours or so. It's the not-so-fun part of break-up, when the weather actually
breaks things.

I hope that you are not caught up in any of the destruction. And I hope/pray for everyone there.
