Many of you loved to read Brigid's blog, Home on the Range, until she was forced by circumstances to take it down.
Good news: it's back! Click on the link for more that beautiful prose which we all love so much.

Blogger Strikes Again - Updated
I made the mistake of looking at some of the new themes Blogger offers, this morning, and applied one. Briefly.
But Blogger, in its wisdom or lack thereof, ate my entire blogroll. Many of my readers have blogs which I proudly listed on the margin here. But they're gone now, and I could only remember the URL for a few.
So please, if you've been listed here, please send me your URL and I'll cheerfully add you again.
Thank you.
UPDATE:
Using the "add to list" command for Blog's I'm Following, it restored much of what was lost. But there are still a few missing.
Anyone else out there want to be on the list?

A Home On The Range Post, Spotted on Another Blog
For those of you who miss reading Brigid's "Home on the Range" blog since she was forced to go private, she has written a guest post at Borepatch's place.
You're welcome. :)
I'll be back later with more. Thanks for stopping by, friends.

ARRRGGHH
My annual renewal of this domain is April 11, but Google ... bless their darling hearts and greedy wallets ... wants me to establish an account with Google Apps for Work, set myself up as an administrator, and tell them what the company website is, and how many employees need e-mail accounts.
I tried several times to establish an account, following their directions, and they won't recognize this blog site as a "domain". And they insist that the annual renewal ($10/year) is now a monthly fee of $5.
I don't know if this page will disappear, or if they'll just put "blogspot" back into the URL.
Sigh... They really shouldn't mess with a blogger who's been on the fence about quitting anyway. Know what I mean?

Well, That Worked - and Welcome Aboard
Yesterday I mentioned that Blogger wouldn't display the Nav Bar nor followers' icons, no matter what I tried. In comments on that post, reader Alec suggested starting Firefox in "safe mode", which disables all the add-ons.
It worked. :)
First world problems, admittedly, but still an on-going annoyance.
And now that I can see the icons on the sidebar, let me say "Welcome aboard!" to new-ish followers Ariel and Terra Dactyl.

Blogger Advice Bleg
I admit it: I must have changed something, but I cannot see the menu bar at the top of my own Blogger page, nor the followers' icons on the sidebar. This has been going on for over a month now.
I can see those things just fine on your page ... and on every other Blogger site on-line. Just not on mine.
I've been through the display and view settings multiple times, changed the template, changed the colors. Heck, I even changed the font.
Nothing works. I think it might have something to do with an https: setting, with those things being termed "non-secure", but I don't know for sure. And I don't know how to change settings so that I can access my own menu.
I'm using Firefox 39.0. Help?

I Think Roberta X is Right
She posited, today, that "blogging is essentially dead...".
It's hard to argue with that. My readers (for the most part) are those who agree with me (again, for the most part, but by no means always). And the blogs I read are by those with whom I mostly agree.
And frankly, after nearly seven years here, I haven't had much of an original topic about which to write in quite awhile.
I won't shut this thing down. Not yet. But darned if I can think of anything to say, these days.
And life's too short for me to bore you.
I'll be back.
Eventually.

A Comment About Comments
I've switched Blogger settings back to a pop-up window for comments, as a few folks have encountered issues with their browsers and/or settings. They've been unable to leave comments when replies were enabled.
For whatever reason, Blogger doesn't offer the "reply" option in the full-page or pop-up window settings; only when "embedded" is selected.
Hmmph. Anyway, that's the way it is, this snowy morning. Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

Update on Tin Can Assassin
I just saw this update on Tin Can Assassin: his "wife just contacted me. All is stable right now, and she sounded a
little more upbeat. I don't know much more than that, but she seriously
appreciates all the posts and prayers."
Thank you, on his behalf, for all your prayers. I know he & his wife appreciate it more than words can say.

Tin Can Assassin Needs Our Prayers
We've just heard that Tin Can Assassin has been hospitalized with heart problems. I'll post updates when/if they become available.
Prayers are requested.

Did Anyone Else Notice
that Blogger's "dashboard" underwent some, uh, changes today? Blogroll highlighted with bullet points ... the pics in the linked posts were displayed at nearly full size ...
Weird? Or just me?
p.s. It has, of course, switched back to its previous design, since I first posted this.
H'rumph.

Blogger Issues
I recently reviewed my layout, and clicked on a couple of other template examples, just to see how they appear. Decided to keep the current design, but ... but I didn't, repeat, did not tell it make the links Day-Glo Blue.
I've tried resetting it, changing it, and hitting it with a hammer. Nothing works. (sighs) I'm beginning to wonder how many half-inch holes I could make in the monitor before it stops working.
Update: Arrrgghhh!!! I just looked at the site, and the changes I requested at 7:03 a.m. just appeared. At 12:26 p.m.
D'oh!
