Praying About Tonight's Debate

Dutch Sheets (whom I believe to be a modern-day apostle) lists eight suggestions of things to pray over tonight's Presidential debate, here.

In the meantime, let's thank the Lord for another day, and for another chance to set things aright. We all bemoan the fact that this country does not resemble the one in which we grew up.

So let's pray that the Lord restores America to a decent place in which to live, prosper, and speak the truth without fear.

The Morning After the Night Before

Brief round-up:  Donald Trump showed he is serious, had good answers, and isn't as easily rattled as the opposition hoped. He scored points on talking about the issues, and taking the fight to the other candidate.

Hillary Clinton stayed on message, but that message was off-set to some extent by her pivots back to well-worn talking points. She didn't deliver anything new, nor win any new support, as she failed to answer several key accusations.

Breitbart covered the debate live, and fact-checked claims by each as the debate rolled on. The report? Ms. Clinton was either "false" or "mostly false" in nearly all her claims and responses.

For my part, I'm just glad that the debates are over.

A Thought About the Debate

We watched the debate as closely as our individual levels of nausea would allow. My take-away is this: if we were living in Old Testament times, I'd expect Ms. Clinton to be struck by lightning ... or at the very least, turned into a pillar of salt.

Just my opinion, folks; as always, your mileage may vary.

Another Project Completed

But not one which we had planned.

About 2 1/2 weeks ago, one of the garage door springs decided to have its left end part company with the right. This, it did at 2100 hrs, just after my wife had fallen asleep in her recliner.

Did I mention that said spring is directly under her seat? That was an exciting five seconds, she could assure you. :)

Today, the spring, pulleys and cables were replaced. All is once again well in the Land of The Garage.

And once again, we're thankful that our realtor explained the benefits of the gold standard "extra" package on the homebuyers' warranty. It covers the spring, pulleys, cables and labor. (It also covers all of our appliances, our furniture, and all the major systems in the house.

So the door repair cost only a $100 deductible, and we're good to go.

And it's just as well: it wouldn't do to go into tonight's debate already agitated by something else. In Biblical terms, sufficient unto the debate is the evil thereof.

p.s. I know I said there were no plans to watch yon debate ... but my family had other plans. So it will be on, although I might catch up on some reading. :)
