Another Day, Another Bashing of Pres. Trump

Y'all remember when Obama was praised for all the civilians (including an American, IIRC) he killed with drones? Why, he was the greatest military mastermind since the Roman Empire, according to his fawning sycophantic co-conspirators in the national press.

So when the current President takes out an avowed terrorist after yet another U.S. embassy is attacked, then it's "OMGZ, he's literally Hitler/a dictator/tyrant/monster!!!1!! He's trying to start another war!!!"

No, he's trying to end one before it gets rolling. Gee, it must be a weekday or something.

Winter Redux, All Over Again

I'm glad that I had the snow tires removed from my truck on Monday. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been prepared for the two three four inches of fresh snow we have this morning.

'Tis snowing heavily, with what appears to be small snowballs falling from the sky.

Sigh ...

You May Never See This

but the old domain expired. Since neither Blogger nor enom.com would allow me to make payment - despite taking pains to keep info up to date ... sigh.

But it's mooseintheyard.blogspot.com again. Same old, same old, but now with a longer name!

Double sigh ...

Presidential Visit to Alaska

Ho-hum. At least now he'll have visited all 58 states ... or is it 59?

There's a great editorial in today's paper, where a conservative and/or libertarian voice sneaked through:
President Barack Obama is coming to Alaska.

So what? He’s not coming to learn. He’s made that perfectly clear in the video he circulated when he announced his trip. He’s coming to use Alaska as a backdrop to further his argument on climate change.

He’s coming to use us.

Of course, he is the president, and we are supposed to welcome him with open arms, and we will. However, this state has some strong disagreements with this president, and he never bothers to take a minute and listen to what we have to say.

He's to be in Anchorage on the 31st, Seward on the 1st, and visiting several villages the day after that.

I wonder if anyone told him you can't land a 747 on a grass strip by the river in Kivilina? Maybe they're fitting it with pontoons?

Whatever.

Silly Season Is Upon Us

Don't believe me? Have you heard the talking heads on the idiot box this morning?

We're to believe that the president's poor performance the other night was because Algore sucked all the oxygen out of the room while causing freak snowstorms, or whatever it is that the Windbag O' Warmering does.

Feh.

Have a great Friday, friends.

So ...

... y'all know about last night's debate: Romney was prepared, upbeat, and confident. In short, all the things that Obama was not.

The most important point, IMHO, is that Romney finally got to be himself without government or media (but I repeat myself) editing what viewers get to see. It was also rather astounding to hear a candidate refer to the 10th Amendment ... I loved that bit.

Romney has swerved to the right - and it will be up to conservatives to watch him like a hawk, to make sure he stays there.

* * * * *

Alaska's congressional delegation has weighed in on the upcoming election, for whatever that's worth. Congressman Young (R-AK - we only have the one, you know) and Senator Murkowski (Rino-AK) endorsing Romney, and Senator Begich (D-AK) sounding only "lukewarm" in support of the incumbent.

It's hard for me to imagine how any thinking person could support the current president ... but then, as I read on-line the other day, you can't sway someone with facts and reason if their position wasn't based on facts and reason in the first place.

When all they have is "feels good" and "gimme gimme", there's nowhere left to go ... for them. It's a shame, really.

* * * * *

The local newspaper-cum-fishwrapper has made radical changes to its website, and it's actually an improvement. But they still pound the far-left drumbeat.  The paper's readership has dropped dramatically in the last few years (like every other newsprint product in the U.S.), and their advertising rates are the highest, among all printed media in town. Yet they continue to ride that liberal/enviro-nazi/anti-Palin/big government horse ... right into the ground.

What? It's not working?  Then do it again ... harder!

* * * * *

The weather has moderated here, with highs in the upper 40s to around 50 for the next few days ... or so AccuHunch guesses. It's raining this morning, but was already 47 when I left home.

* * * * *

Enough. Time for another cuppa & another spreadsheet. Cheers!

OWS Anchorage: Not Exactly a Hotbed of Activity

Towne Square, in downtown Anchorage. The OccupyMyParentsBasement (or whatever they're calling it, this week) is supposed to be from 1 pm to midnight.

Well, the orange thingy wasn't there, this morning.

I guess they may try to make something of it in another hour or two, in time for the evening news broadcasts. Or not. Who cares? Neither I, nor anyone I know, is impressed by demands to walk away from good jobs to stand around in the park & protest ... well, anything.

UPDATE: I just looked at the current live webcam view (here) and under magnification, one can see seven (count 'em, 7) people around that one little booth shown above.

Friday Morning

It's 2 degrees & snowing lightly. Traffic was sparse on the way in, proving that many working stiffs were more clever than I about getting the day off.

My daughters took me to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie last night: I think it's better than the first one, especially the scenes where Sherlock & Prof. Moriarty are verbally dueling, face to face. The suspense is well-played, with just enough comic relief to keep you from being overwhelmed by the fast-paced dramatic sequences ... and there's a fantastic revamp of the "that's not a gun, THIS is a gun" meme. Twice.

Thanks to everyone who commented on the posts about Alaska, over the last three days. My co-author is working on a website-slash-forum, and I'll pass that URL along as soon as it's ready. In the meantime, if you have any questions, my e-mail address in in my profile.

I expect my office to be very slow, this morning, and will probably leave before lunch. My outlook will be much improved by walking out the front door, I suspect - not that I have a negative attitude; I'd just rather not be in the office today.

Have a safe holiday weekend, folks!

It's National Food Day

Today is Food Day, put together by an activist group that specializes in guilt trips, the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
So eat whatever you want!

However, for any namby-pamby nanny-statists who might trip over this post: do so with full recognition that what's on your fork* is your responsibility.  It's not McDonalds' fault that you super-sized your posterior by eating all those quarter-pounders & fries. Unless you've got video of a burger-flipper holding a gun to your head, shut it.

Do what you want, ignore the paid (cough) "scientists" (cough, paid shills, cough) and deal with it.

* Fork, spoon, spfork, knife, or implement of your choice. Remember choice?  It's all about choice. Kind of my point, there.

DNS Server Error

I'm informed that Facebook is down.  Oh, the humanity!  Fires, floods, plagues of Biblical proportion ... dogs and cats living together ... where will it end?

p.s. A tenant just suggested a completely unrelated headline:

"Worker productivity up - Recession Ends"
